Featured wine:
Agnes & Rene Mosse
2018 Domaine Mosse Le Gros
Agnes & Rene Mosse are tucked away off the Layon, a tributary of the Loire river, in a region called Anjou. The area, in the central part of France’s Loire valley, is an amazing place to make both red and white wines. Before beginning their estate in 1999, Agnes and Rene had a little bistro in Tours that was renowned among local winemakers, leading them to eventually get in the game themselves. While I could sing praises for days of all their wines ( their Chenin consistently floors me), at the moment I am most excited about their ‘Le Gros’ cuvee, which focuses on Grolleau with a supporting cast of Gamay, Grolleau Gris, and Cot (Malbec’s name in the region). Despite it’s relatively deep extraction, this wine is light, fresh, and floral, and has me ready for spring. For $27.99, this is the ideal wine to snag with some saucisson and comte and hang out in the backyard all day soaking in the rays (or to remind you of sunnier days when the rain comes back!)
Drink it here
Well, you can’t right now… But when we open back up, for a small corkage fee ($8 wine/$2 beer), you can select from the city’s most extensive beer/wine list and enjoy it right here! In the meantime, how about adding some wine or beer to your order? Simply add it to the comment section at check out.
