Let’s face it…the holidays have a way of making us eat and drink good things. On New Year’s Eve, there’s perhaps no greater delight than the trio of caviar, blini, and Champagne. Our caviar comes from the Seattle Caviar Company, founded by Seattle natives Dale and Betsy Sherrow. They do the hard work of finding the best caviar and hand-delivering it to the shop. We have Paddlefish from the Yellowstone River in the Mississippi River system, and Osetra from Belgium made with Caspian Osetra brood stock. And don’t forget the Isigny French Creme Fraiche! For those without the time to make their own blini, the Seattle Caviar version is ready to go. They have a delicate, nutty flavor and hold their shape well, making them the perfect base for your dollop of crème fraîche, caviar, and a garnish of finely chopped chives.

And then, the Champagne – Thierry Triolet’s Grand Reserve is a bubbly in the entry level category that drinks like a Champagne at twice the price. The wine is always composed of a certain amount of reserved, older vintages, giving it a rich and almondy texture. It’s rare to find Champagnes in this category or price range that offer so much initial age, but who’s complaining?
Making a nice tray of blini and caviar is easier than making toast. Dollop, scoop, garnish, eat, drink, repeat. You can do this, and yes, you deserve it this New Year’s Eve!
