DeLaurenti Giveaways: Coro by Salumi Rosmarino Salami

To thank our customers for their support, we’re offering a series of weekly giveaways. This week starting on August 3rd, with every order over $75, we’ll include a 6 oz. stick of Coro Rosmarino Salami made by Salumi while supplies last.

Founded by Armandino & Marilyn Batali in 1999, Salumi has grown from a small neighborhood deli with an ever-present line out the door to an international destination for food lovers. Anthony Bourdain called Salumi “a holy place.” And Ruth Reichl said of their salami, “It’s such a surprise. It makes the pork seem so sweet. Oh, my God, it’s like he’s invented something new here.”

DeLaurenti was one of Salumi’s first wholesale customers and quickly grew to be their most beloved. So in 2007, we asked Salumi to develop an exclusive product for us. After batting around several ideas, the Rosmarino Salami was born. Made with rosemary, black peppercorns and vegetarian-fed pork , the salami is so delicate and flavorful you’ll understand why people rave aboutour Rosmarino. Even now, thirteen long years later, DeLaurenti is the only place where you can buy it, It’s not even available at Salumi!

In October 2017, the Batalis sold Salumi to Clara Veniard and Martinique Grigg. “Both Martinique and I were long-time lovers of Salumi,” Clara says. “We’d travel to visit relatives carrying sticks of Salumi’s meats.” With the strength of their customer’s loyalty, the Batalis knew that  Salumi had the capacity to continue to grow and reach more customers. They also knew, given their stage in life, it was time to pass the baton to someone else to lead this growth. After much apprenticing, listening and learning, Clara and Martinique invested in a state-of-the-art production facility in South Seattle. Salumi can now meet what has become international demand for their charcuterie.

Armed with passion and a new facility, they created the brand Coro by Salumi. Salumi is the Italian word for cured meats. As their market expanded, they felt they couldn’t presume to own the word Salumi. Coro is the Italian word for chorus, which to them celebrates the unique flavors of their meats and the many voices that come together at Salumi to create their unique products. We are as proud as ever to showcase Coro by Salumi meats in our deli case.
